What will you be doing?
As Senior Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring that projects which require a mechanical input are correctly defined, designed, installed, and completed.
This will be an all-encompassing role working on a variety of engineering schemes such as Pumping Stations (new & refurbishments) and Treatment Works upgrades, working on multiple concurrent projects.
Day to day you’ll be…
- Providing technical lead and oversight on projects requiring mechanical design input ensuring compliance with project scopes and standards and that appropriate stakeholder engagement has taken place.
- Checking, commenting and approving designs carried out by Contractors and Consultants.
- Undertaking line management responsibility for the Mechanical Engineer.
- Undertaking any necessary design activities aligned to area of expertise developing designs that meet technical standards and are safe and efficient to build, commission, operate, maintain, and dismantle.
- Preparing design, tender, contract and as built documentation (drawings, scopes and specifications) working collaboratively with the wider Engineering team and our supply chain partners.
- Supporting our Procurement team providing specialist technical expertise evaluating tender returns and quotations.
- Providing technical support to the Asset Team in developing Business Cases where mechanical engineering input is required.
- Supporting the wider Engineering team to ensure site activities are aligned with designs and specifications.
- Where appropriate providing site supervision of works, ensuring that works on site are undertaken safely, efficiently and in accordance with contract technical specifications.
What we’re looking for…
- Design experience of mechanical engineering works in an industrial environment.
- A Technical Authority to support the Company in maintaining the Mechanical Specification, ensuring project compliance and review of technical impact of project changes.
- Basic competency with AutoCAD 2020 or later
- Understanding of regulations and standards relating to mechanical design and construction.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written English and computer Literate
- Understanding and appreciation of the Project environment.
- Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent and ideally CEng status with relevant professional institution.
- Broad understanding of systems, plant and processes used in municipal water treatment and industry.
