We are looking for a Commercial Intern to start in July 2024 within the Boeing Defence United Kingdom Fixed Wing or Digital & Future Programmes Commercial Teams. The position is based in Bristol reporting to the Head of Commercial. In this role you will work closely with appointed Commercial team-members to experience a variety of aspects of their role initially through job shadowing before taking on responsibilities to support undertaking the commercial role through a mix of supervised activities and independent responsibilities.  

The Fixed Wing business area comprises a mixture of proposals and contracted programmes to support UK-operated C-17 and P8 fleets and the delivery of the E7 programme. Here you will work with teams who support frontline operations for complex aircraft in a challenging but exciting environment.

The Digital & Future Programmes business area manages interesting, predominantly digital-based contracts and proposals of varying sizes, ranging from large support contracts for important IT services through to development of new digital capability for next-generation training needs of the military.

Position responsibilities:

  • Support proposal development and negotiation for contract change proposals
  • Manage administration of the change process
  • Shadow meetings with the external customer
  • Attend routine and ad-hoc meeting with internal programme stakeholders to address contract deliverables, manage progress of activities, resolve issues as they arise
  • Excellent record-keeping and commercial administration of all aspects of contracts
  • Learn the various approaches to problem-solving under contract, from evaluating and stating contractual positions to creating innovative commercial solutions
  • Build excellent working relationships, and develop good business judgment to protect the business, support customer needs and deliver value for money solutions
  • Review, interpretation, negotiation and application of contractual terms in relation to programme activities
  • Supported by other members of the Commercial team, identify risks, opportunities, improvement initiatives and work with stakeholders to leverage best outcomes

Essential Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Right to work in UK - We do not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.
  • Studying a degree course or have graduated a degree course within last 2 years

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Studying at degree level in Business, Law, Finance or similar. No Minimum degree grade or GPA score required
  • Confidence and willingness to present and host meetings
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders of all levels
  • To have forward thinking mind-set and self-motivated
  • Effective communication skills
  • Attention to detail and high focus on quality outputs
  • To be inclusive and enthusiastic
