Vaarst are hiring an experienced and highly skilled Senior Unreal Engineer to join our innovative team, reporting to our VP of Robotics & Simulation Engineering. In this role, you will lead the development of state-of-the-art digital twins and robotic simulations that drive the clean energy transition. As a key team member, you will design, develop, and optimize products and tools for both internal and external customers, supporting data analysis and autonomous robotics deployment in the offshore wind industry.

You will work closely with the product team, cross-functional engineering teams, and various stakeholders throughout the entire product lifecycle. Your responsibilities will encompass high-level software development, architectural design, and adherence to rigorous quality standards using Modern C++ and Unreal Engine. As a Senior Engineer, you will also mentor junior engineers, provide technical leadership, and contribute to strategic planning.

Objectives & Responsibilities:

Vaarst is an exciting and dynamic environment meaning these are likely to change as we grow, upon joining your objectives and responsibilities will include:

  • Write and maintain high-quality, efficient, and scalable code using Modern C++ within the Unreal Engine framework.
  • Architect and develop advanced digital twins and robotic simulations using Unreal Engine.
  • Implement sophisticated features and functionalities that accurately represent real-world offshore wind environments and robotic operations.
  • Lead and participate in all phases of the product lifecycle, from initial concept and design through to implementation, testing, and deployment.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the development team.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

  • 5+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on Unreal Engine and Modern C++.
  • Strong understanding of software design patterns, and architectural principles.
  • Proven track record of leading, developing and supporting high-quality software solutions for complex systems.
  • Expertise in Unreal Engine, including blueprints and C++.
  • Understanding of the pitfalls of software development and how to avoid them.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers.
