The role
Are you an enthusiastic and forward-thinking technician looking to shake-up your career?
The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Bristol is looking for a technician to support teaching, research and commercial activities in our large-scale test facilities.
Using your knowledge of construction, fitting/assembly, hydraulic test rigs or other relevant areas of expertise, you will work with a senior technician to support the facility, delivering a high level of wide-ranging service support activities.
The role will be primarlily based at our Langford Campus in North Somerset.
What will you be doing?
You will deliver a technical service to both our Soil-Foundation-Structure Interaction (SoFSI) Laboratory, and Earthquake and Large Structures (EQUALS) Laboratory, although will be mainly based in the SoFSI laboratory on our Langford Campus. Typical tasks include fixing test items to the shaking table and setting up sensors, or construction of bespoke large-scale experiments in our soil pit.
It is essential you can work with minimum supervision and under pressure towards pre-defined goals, with the ability to deal with and prioritise a range of concurrent activity. You will be a good communicator who can multitask and develop effective working relationships quickly across a range of internal and external contacts.
