Are you a graduate who is passionate and committed to making a difference in the lives of young people?

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you in a 6th Form College in Bristol. We're seeking graduate learning support assistants for the new academic year. This role is unique as you'll be part of a team that supports students with high needs, helping them achieve the best possible outcomes.

This term-time-only role, which starts August 2024, has the potential to run for the full 2024/25 academic year and offers an excellent salary of £450 - £500 per week.

This position is perfect for anyone with a degree and looking to start a career working with children or young adults.

You will need:

  • Passion and enthusiasm to shape the next generation.
  • An interest in Further Education or SEN.
  • Degree - 2:2 or above. Any subject.
  • To be able to engage with students, to inspire and motivate.
  • To be able to multi-task.
  • Work effectively on your own and demonstrate initiative.
  • Establish good working relationships with a wide range of people.
  • Have high expectations of teaching and learning.
  • Ability to relate well to pupils and adults.
  • To have good communication skills.
  • To be confident, self-assured and happy.
  • Be keen to develop as a professional.

In this role, you’ll provide practical learning support to their learners under the guidance of the class teachers and college SENCo.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Support individual students with additional needs in a 1:1 or small group situation or in class.
  • Take on the keyworker role for a caseload of students with an EHCP.
  • Work with teachers to ensure that the support needs of students are met.
  • Plan and review the progress of individual students against specific targets.
  • Liaise regularly with teachers and other staff in relation to the needs of targeted students.
  • Assist teachers with planning the differentiation of support for students with additional needs.
  • Promote and support inclusion in all academic and social settings for students with additional needs.
  • Ensure that all records, information and data on students is handled sensitively and confidentially.
  • Supervise groups of students within the Inclusive Learning area, and to contribute to supervisory arrangements for students during break times, College trips and other relevant activities.
