The Opportunity...

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) established in 2023, is responsible for delivering the design for a number of NI buildings, systems and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project through an integrated team, support to HPC construction and commissioning activities, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. Therefore, a Technical Directorate is being created, responsible for the engineering disciplines and technical expertise required to deliver the different engineering projects through integrated teams in EPR-E.

What you’ll be doing…

  • Receiving, analysing, and verifying the consistency of the input data.
  • Producing deliverables for which they are responsible.
  • Performing technical verifications of civil engineering design notes, models, and drawings.
  • Contributing to the surveillance of the anchorages designed by the equipment suppliers and CDM reviews, creating and maintaining the Design Risk Register.
  • Liaising with site-based engineering teams to facilitate the construction and subject matter experts.
  • Ensuring the coordination for transverse topics and complex technical open points (with other programs & disciplines).
  • Coordinating with civil designers and other stakeholders.
  • Preparing and chairing progress meetings and managing many different stakeholders involved in the engineering design sequence. 
  • Analysing, implementing, and monitoring design modifications requested by the various engineering teams.
  • Anticipating and raising alerts on technical open points.
  • Contributing to project and contract risk registers.
  • Preparing design change papers and their presentation in change committees.
  • Assisting internal contract management teams in the administration of the relevant contracts.
  • Identifying and raising risks impacting program and cost for your scope of activity.
  • Managing workloads and associated resources.

In addition, for SZC positions:

  • Supporting the preparation of technical documentation for procurement, jointly with the Contract Engineering Lead (CEL).
  • Supporting the client –SZC Co- on behalf of the CEL for the coordination of technical discussions during the procurement phase prior to the signature of the contract with the civil designer.
  • Responsibility for the replication of the HPC design to SZC.

Who you are…

Your background may include some of the following:

  • Bachelor / master’s degree in civil engineering.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in civil engineering.
  • Knowledge of or experience of civil engineering design contracts in the nuclear sector or other heavily regulated industry (such as oil & gas, rail).
  • Experience in nuclear engineering and new nuclear build projects, HPC experience will be very advantageous.
  • Knowledge of EPR engineering process.
  • Understanding and implementation of project engineering procedures.
