Our Commercial Insurance Team at DWF are currently hiring for a Solicitor.

About the role

The Commercial Insurance Team are instructed by their insurer clients predominantly to pursue subrogated property damage recovery claims. The team work to recover the insurers' outlay where damage has been caused to their customer's property, including both commercial and domestic premises; as well as handling and increasing number of defender instructions.

As a Solicitor, you will have your own caseload and have responsibility for ensuring optimal outcomes for our insurers, along with supporting business development activities to help drive the firm.

You will be supported by the wider team which is represented across Manchester, Bristol and Edinburgh, and will have access to our blue chip client list, including many of the top 10 household and commercial insurers.

Responsibilities:

  • Achieve time recording targets split between chargeable and investment time in any one financial year;
  • Achieve individual financial targets in line with sales plan;
  • Understand client requirements and manage cases in line with service level agreements and best practice;
  • Analyse risk and further develop sound judgement enabling the justification of decisions to clients internally and externally;
  • Prioritise work effectively and to maximise efficiency in working practices;
  • Understand individual role in the context of the practice group and pro-actively seek to contribute to increased efficiency in developing a case load appropriate to level of technical, legal knowledge;
  • Build working relationships internally and externally in order to develop business networks and create a solid understanding of the Firm’s direction and client needs;
  • Develop increased levels of technical and commercial knowledge via training or supervised working practices.

About you

An ideal candidate for the role should be able to demonstrate technical and commercial expertise in property damage recovery claims, and have strong interest in the type of work, with around 2 years PQE. Have a proven track record of delivering results within strict deadlines and timeframes, as well as the ability to communicate and manage difficult conversations with both internal and external stakeholders.
