Contractual hours: 37 hour

This is an opportunity to join the management team of one of the largest Private Housing teams in the country with responsibility for improving services to make a real difference to improving the quality of the private housing sector, in Bristol.

The Private Housing Service is responsible for a wide range of activities including property licensing, empty-homes, home improvement grants and loans and the management of gypsy, traveler and vehicle dweller sites. The service also commissions an external Home Improvement Agency.

Your will lead one of the teams responsible for the one of the following areas:

  • Managing property licensing programmes to improve standards and management practices in the private rented sector;
  • Regulation of the private rented sector including tenancy relations and trading standards related work and private, high rise block improvements;
  • Engagement with landlord, agent and private tenants and coordinating advice and support initiatives to improve other private housing provision i.e., homes for Ukraine etc.;
  • Coordinating resources, service and technical development

Over time, opportunities may be available move to gain experience in one of the other Private Housing Teams work areas.

The role is demanding, managing a team of up to twenty to thirty technical and/or support staff. You will also be expected to take personal responsibility for a wide range of operational and management issues and have a proven record of achieving positive outcomes in private rented sector through partnership working, consultation and collaboration with a range of stakeholders.  

Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills and the ability to think creatively to find solutions to complex problems is an essential part of this role.
