Summary

We are looking for a curious, creative problem-solver who enjoys using new technologies to join us as an Apprentice Legal Technologist in September 2024.

You will spend 80% of your time working in Burges Salmon's Innovation team, and 20% studying for the Digital and Technology Solutions degree apprenticeship with our training provider.

This position will be based at One Glass Wharf, our Bristol HQ, only five minutes' walk from Temple Meads station.

The team

As an Apprentice Legal Technologist, you will join our Innovation team, which is part of the wider Transformation & Projects (T&P) team, sitting within the firm's Operations Department. T&P consists of five main functions: Business Project Management, Legal Project Management, Business Analysis and Testing, Innovation, and Change Management.

The Innovation team focuses on enhancing client service delivery and building valuable solutions for our lawyers and clients. Innovation is a multi-disciplinary team consisting of lawyers, technologists and innovation specialists who work collaboratively to create innovative solutions, introduce new legal technology products, and deliver innovation and process improvement projects to improve client service delivery.

The role

You will be involved in a diverse range of innovation initiatives and projects from AI to solution development using elements of our “legal tech” toolkit. Work may include:

• efficiency projects to improve client service delivery
• testing and trialling new technologies
• participating in process mapping and design workshops
• attending innovation and legaltech events and sharing insights learnt to the team.

Gradually you will take on more responsibility, develop your business knowledge and acquire technical skills, alongside studying for a Digital and Technology Solutions degree as part of the apprenticeship.

The Innovation team works closely with a variety of clients, people and departments across the firm including other teams within T&P and our IT/Technology team, so you will also gain exposure to other areas of the business.

Apprenticeship

You will be based full-time in the Innovation team, working on a broad spectrum of projects with a diverse range of stakeholders across the firm and our client base.

By working on a variety of projects, you will develop a diverse set of skills that are a gateway to a number of careers.

You will work towards a Level 6 Digital and Technology Solutions qualification (degree apprenticeship) over a period 3 years.
