Job Requirements/Description

Part Time - 22 hours a week, over 4-5 days per week, Permanent.

Based at The Bottle Yard Studios, Whitchurch Lane, Bristol BS14 0BH

Bristol Film Office is Bristol City Council’s filming facilitation and permissions service.

A small but busy team, we work with production companies of all sizes to bring filming activity to Bristol (including feature film, TV, advertising/commercial shoots, and student projects) and make the filming process as smooth as possible. Last year, filming activity facilitated by Bristol City Council generated £20 million to the city’s economy.

We liaise closely with Council colleagues and external organisations to build a ‘film-friendly’ approach, supporting production teams by securing the use of Bristol City Council property and land for filming purposes, making logistical arrangements, monitoring health and safety management, coordinating permissions, and promoting the benefits of Bristol production activity wherever possible.

Based within Bristol City Council’s Culture and Creative Industries team, Bristol Film Office is part of the Council’s film sector support service, which also comprises The Bottle Yard Studios and Bristol UNESCO City of Film.

This is an exciting time for Bristol as a centre for film and TV production. The UK TV and film industry has grown significantly in recent years, with ongoing demand for new screen content.

Bristol is benefiting from this growth with many major high-end TV series choosing to film in the city, an expansion of The Bottle Yard Studios and new initiatives in development to stimulate inclusive and sustainable growth of the local creative industries.

To support the ongoing development of the sector and meet demand for Bristol Film Office’s services, we are recruiting a part-time Film Office Assistant.

The Bristol Film Office Assistant will be based at The Bottle Yard Studios offices 4-5 days (22 hours) per week.

You will provide administrative support to the team and act as a point of contact for filming enquiries. This role supports the day-to-day running of our fast-paced service.

You will work with production clients and Council colleagues to support logistical arrangements for filming, monitor Bristol Film Office’s Locations and other databases, filming permissions, site bookings and finance systems.

We're looking for someone with experience of providing high quality administrative support, having worked in a customer service and/or client-facing environment with excellent communication skills. You will be practiced at working as part of a busy team, juggling multiple projects, problem-solving, meeting tight deadlines and responding effectively at pace.

The team relies on IT systems and tools, working with them daily. A high level of digital competence is therefore required to manage databases and process filming permissions paperwork.

You will use your strong organising skills to manage conflicting priorities, monitor compliance of business processes and accurately disseminate information to team members, colleagues, and clients.
