Job Requirements/Description

Join us to save and improve lives through social media! As part of our team, youll help educate and inform people about blood, stem cell, and organ donation, sharing positive stories from those affected. Youll lead exciting campaigns and manage daily content, becoming an expert in what works on our social media channels. Your role will also support modernising blood donor sessions and changing societal views on organ donation. As part of a dedicated team of professionals, including support teams, drivers, scientists, clinicians, and research staff, you will play a part in ensuring that hospitals in England are provided with essential blood and plasma supplies daily as well as managing the NHS Organ Donor Register. You will help plan, deliver, and evaluate social media campaigns, ensuring our messages are effectively communicated across various channels to promote all forms of donation.

Main duties of the job

Build an engaged community on our current social media accounts (X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat) to create prospective ambassadors. Develop plans for new social media accounts and monitor social media trends. Create and execute innovative campaigns to recruit and retain blood donors, and promote organ donation awareness, integrating social media with broader communication efforts. Generate new content ideas to drive website traffic. Plan and publish engaging, original content (copy, videos, visuals) aligned with our objectives. Manage a large workload with changing priorities. Ensure our social media communication reflects our values and goals, and track and evaluate social media performance. Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to support and measure campaign activities. Work with external agencies to plan, implement, and evaluate campaigns. Identify and collaborate with influencers, both external and within our donor base, alongside the Celebrity and Influencer Relationship Manager. You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in digital, communications, journalism, Public Relations or related field or equivalent qualification / experience
  • Digital or Marketing qualification equivalent to post-graduate study or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Specialist knowledge in the digital field - internal or external courses in digital communications
  • Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)

Experience

Essential

  • Knowledge and experience of identifying, researching, producing and editing social media content and adhering to a consistent tone of voice across social platforms.
  • Ability to represent the social media team at relevant groups and meetings
  • Experience in working with social media page management software and tools, e.g., Hootsuite, brandwatch.
  • Knowledge of coordination of social media editorial calendars and creating engaging content
  • Experience of working in a campaign project team, taking responsibility for content creation and channel plans across multiple accounts management, including measuring and reporting on results.
  • Ability to identify a potential negative or crisis situation.
  • Ability to handle complex, sensitive situation, maintaining confidentiality where necessary as well as understanding of and respect for donor/patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to relate to colleagues at all levels across a large, multi-site organisation with confidence and diplomacy.
