The positions available will focus on either Fire and Compliance or Asset and Project Delivery.

Founded in 1876, the University of Bristol offers a world-class learning environment. A large portion of our estate, sits within conservation areas and includes some of Bristol’s most iconic buildings and landmarks.

Our Surveyors play a key part in the planning and delivery of projects across the estate, ensuring that it is well maintained, compliant, safe, with modern facilities that support teaching and learning.

We are seeking experienced construction professionals, who have a passion for the built environment, with particular skill in fire safety and compliance, and building pathology to provide the full range of building surveying, project management, and contract administration duties.

What will you be doing?

You’ll be working across one of Bristol’s most iconic estates, delivering services which support our ambition to become a world class campus.

The role requires complete ownership and management of the project lifecycle from inception to completion.

You will be liaising with stakeholders to establish end user requirements, undertaking site investigations, desktop studies, and where required engage the services of specialist consultants to support project implementation and delivery.

You will directly support the co-ordination and collation of asset data relating to building condition, fire safety and compliance. You will develop and manage projects which support and underpin the delivery of our Maintenance Strategy and the University’s wider objectives.

Oversee all aspects of building improvement projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and deliver high-quality active and passive fire protection and compliance solutions.

Ensure contractors and consultants adhere to, and are compliant with University of Bristol regulations relating to their activities and conduct on site.

Working with stakeholder to deliver a range of innovative projects which support the delivery of our Net Zero targets.

You’ll need to be flexible as no two days are the same, and have the ability to prioritise your time and duties with a great degree of independence.
