Cloud Server Engineer - Remote Contract

We are currently looking to recruit a Cloud Server Engineer to join our client on a 3 month contract, supporting on the delivery of some critical Server and storage upgrade projects.

This position will be remotely based and will be an Outside IR35 engagement, working remotely.

As the Cloud Server Engineer you will work with our IT directorate and project teams to support the continued development and improvement of our IT configuration.

What will you do?

The main focus of the Cloud Service Engineer will be:

You will work to take a review and investigation of our Servers and core infrastructure, assessing their suitability and security settings

You will advise and report on recommended changes and adaptations, highlighting the challenges and risks associated with implementation

You will work with the project team to implement the upgrades and adaptations, working with the project team and wider IT directorate to ensure these are effectively delivered an ITIL enviornment

Key skills and experience required?


Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud platform, PaaS and IaaS services

Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2012, 2016 and 2019 (administration/configuration including Active Directory, Group Policy, DFS, DNS, DHCP, SCCM, WSUS, SQL)

Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Remote Desktop Services / Remote App deployment and configuration

Good knowledge of Cloud technologies (Azure and Office 365)

Good written and clear verbal communication skills.

Proactive analysis of issues.

Proven track record of planning and delivering large scale infrastructure projects


Experience of cloud automation, scripting, PowerShell DSC and ARM templates

Good knowledge of PowerBI or similar for producing scheduled reporting

Good knowledge of Azure Networking Concepts

Azure certification, MCTS/MCITP for Office 365, MCSE

Knowledge of ITIL and its function within IT.
