We are looking for committed individuals aged between 16 and 24 who are interested in developing a career working with Early Years children in a Nursery School, Pre School or with a home-based Childminder/Educator.

We have a range of employers looking to employ young people in one of the most important professions, the care and education of our young children.

Our Traineeship programme is part of our Early Years Academy and will prepare you for an Early Years apprenticeship with one of our selected employers.

This is an 8 week programme which is;

* Designed to give you a full understanding of what it is really like working as a childcare professional so you can make an informed choice of whether it is the right career for you

* Sponsored by a select group of Early Years employers looking to recruit an apprentice.

* Funded by the government

You will receive;

* Training from experienced childcare and education professionals

* Experience working in one or more Early Years setting

* £50 per week to help with travel and meals (dependant on attendance)

The course is composed of 4 elements

1. Introduction to basic principles of working with children:

* A basic understanding of child development

* An introduction to the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage)

* Safeguarding Children

* Health & Safety

* Food Hygiene qualification

* British Values & the Prevent duty

* An understand of the various career options available to you

1. Work placement:

A minimum of 2 weeks work experience in one or more of the following settings

* Nursery

* Childminder

* Pre-school

* School

Childcare (part time Nanny service)

We will complete your DBS check, we will not place you in a childcare setting without this.

1. Maths & English:

This will be for those who have not already Achieved CGSE Maths and English at grade 4 or 5. Our training is:

* Designed to help you towards achieving a functional skills qualification in Maths and / or English at level 2

* Delivered by friendly professionals in a relaxed environment

1. Preparation for employment


* How to increase your chances of getting work

* How to conduct yourself in the workplace

* Knowing your employment rights & responsibilities

On successful completion of all elements of the course you will be guaranteed an interview with one of our selected employers.
