Products Research & Development Lead Engineer
Office Based Role - Portishead, Bristol
Excellent Renumeration Package
Company Overview
The privately owned company has a rich history in designing and manufacturing innovative products including advanced weather sensors covering precipitation, visibility and thunderstorm detection as well as aerosol analysis instruments for research, industrial and military applications.
They also develop bespoke products to meet specific customer requirements and has a successful history in collaboration with leading universities.
As a dedicated member of the scientific community my client actively participates in European scientific projects such as CRAFT and belongs to the Royal Meteorological Society, HMEI, Renewables UK, National Winter Service Research Group (NWSRG) and the Aerosol Society.
Role
Due to our expanding activities in the area of aerosol analysis instrument development we require an engineer to take a leading research and development role.
The role is based in our Engineering Department where you will be researching and developing the designs used in our current and future aerosol analysis instruments. The products use optical and electrostatic forces to trap and guide single particles to a measurement volume where spectroscopic and other optical measurements are made in real time. The fundamental measurement techniques were developed at Bristol University with whom we have a close and ongoing collaboration. The work requires you to understand the basic principles employed and use your engineering skills to produce practical designs suitable for low volume manufacture. You will need the ability to rapidly assimilate new knowledge and work across multiple engineering disciplines as you specify and guide the design in partnership with specialist electronics, software and mechanical design engineers.
You will take team lead responsibility and work closely with the engineering and Sales team to help promote the products to existing and new customers. You will be required to travel internationally for conference attendance and customer training.
