At Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology, we provide tools for the engineering of micro- and nano-structures, with customers using our process solutions to research and produce materials and semiconductors vital for everything from medical devices and diagnostics, to electric cars and quantum computers.
We are recruiting for a Systems Engineeering Manager to manage our Software and Engineering team. You will be looking after the Analysis and development of the systems (such as software and BMS workflows) that govern the engineering workload to ensure we are operating efficiently, effectively and to the benefit of our internal and external customers. You will be the voice of engineering for cross platform matters within the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the scheduling of engineering tasks and allocation of resources with the other Lead Engineers.
* Ensure the delivery of PLM, CPQ and MRP administration, development and maintenance to deadlines and on quality.
* Provide training and support to the engineering team for our systems and software
* Provide engineering representation for business S&OP process, including the capacity view
* Provide coordination for PVC activity, ensuring releases happen as scheduled
* Ensure time is booked by the engineering team accurately to maintain accuracy of KPIs, and calculations for engineering capacity
* Coordinate cross platform activity for the engineering team, representing all platforms where necessary
* Provide ownership for the definition of engineering processes (such as our ECO, order administration and electrical drawing pack creation)
* Provide representation and communication on behalf of the engineering team when engaging with other departments to maintain visibility of significant resource requirements (NPI projects, complex system orders or upgrades, Opex projects etc).
* Carry out line management for direct reports, including PDR reviews in accordance with company policies. Individual performance of team members should be regularly reviewed with the other Lead Engineers to ensure parity across the team.
* Check the output of the design engineering team through audit to ensure it is in a standard format, complies with company quality, as well as other regulatory and compliance standards.
* Support other departments by answering queries and requests for information relating to your function.
* Work closely and support the other Lead Engineers to ensure that a consistent engineering service is provided by the team.
Education/Qualifications:
* Engineering Degree (Postgraduate preferred)
* Chartered Engineer Preferred.
Professional Skills/Abilities:
* Experience of working as part of an engineering design team.
* Experience of Lifecycle management, including managing version release
* Advanced use of Microsoft Word & Excel.
* Excellent report writing skills
* Microsoft Project - and advanced planning and scheduling techniques
* Professional engineering drawing/design best practice
* Aware of product cost, reliability and safety issues.
* Identifies opportunities to improve systems and procedures and minimise or eliminate wastage.
* Knowledge of regulatory and standards compliance requirements
* Capable of confidently checking / approving other designers work whilst providing constructive feedback to ensure clear and concise drawings are released for manufacturing purposes.
