Materials Buyer (Construction) - Part Time (20 hours per week)

Freelance starting as soon as possible for an on going temporary basis

Pay £20 - 22 per hour (flexibility for the right experienced Buyer)

Location: Gloucester

The Company:

This is a privately owned main contractor based in Gloucestershire. They currently work across a wide section of the construction industry on a variety of contracts, which include Education, Care Homes, Student Accommodation new build and refurbishments, they are currently looking to recruit a Part Time Materials Buyer.

Projects:

Buyer will be working on a variety of Schools, Care Homes, Student Accommodation both on new build & fit out / refurbishment contracts, with values up to £3 - 4million each.

Role:

As a buyer you will be required to cover the procurement of various packages from pre-construction through to completion of projects, working with the Site and projects teams and liaising with the quantity surveyors throughout the procurement process. Work with and alongside the Production team to deliver the projected savings and procurement cots through implementing an action plan aligned with Supply Chain Management. Send out enquiries for materials and plant services. Collection of information regarding potential supply problems, price movements and market conditions.

Maintain the Procurement Department's records and files. Provide advice on products / services as and when requested by the Site team / Contract Manages / Surveyors, etc. to enable them to carry out their duties. When directed liaise with the Estimating Department providing cost information for tender purposes

Essential Skills:

The buyer will have extensive experience in construction materials and plant purchasing and procurement, whilst having the ability to negotiate with suppliers to get the best price always.
Previous Materials and plant procurement experience.
Promote a good working relationship with all the supply chain members
Be pro-active in identifying and proposing new build methods, innovative new products, value engineering opportunities and national agreement potential to the Procurement ManagerIf you feel you have the relevant experience please send your up to date CV
