Principal Mechanical Engineer

Based: Cheltenham

Term: Full time, permanent

Key Responsibilities:

Support design and development of new products/parts according to the project and Chief Engineer requirements

Responsible for reviewing and checking new and existing engineering data and documents.

Deliver documents/drawings/Supplier Data Requirements List (SDRL's) items as agreed by the PM and Chief Engineer.

Lead the resolution of issues that arise during the design, development and testing processes.

Support bids and proposal activities as required by the Chief Engineer in forthcoming tenders.

Attend PEER reviews and Identify/problem solve development issues and determine failure mode, effects and corrective actions.

Technically manage/negotiate with third party providers/suppliers of equipment to ensure compliance to specification and interface control requirements.

Provide technical support to projects/products both internally and to external Customers.

Skills and Qualifications Required:

Able to lead the mechanical aspects on engineering Harnessing projects.
Skilled in CATIA V5 CAD and Airbus Rules.
Skilled in NX CAD tool.
Experience in Aircraft wire Harness and conduit design techniques and the manufacturing practice of rugged harnessing.

Design of Rugged mechanical enclosures for electronics in military applications.

Experience in costing of mechanical components and engineering product cost management.

Good Experience with Change management aspects of engineering documents, drawings and 3D components.

Preferential Experience using PLM tools such as such as Teamcenter for data management.

Degree or equivalent educated in an engineering or science discipline.
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the aerospace and/or defence sector.

Full understanding of product development lifecycle and associated requirements on product/project delivery.

Experience in leading projects and man management principles and able to apply these to day to day tasks.

Good understanding of configuration control in the military land and aerospace industry.

Capable of providing clear and concise presentations to Internal and external Customers.

Experience and understanding of product development practices in the aerospace and safety critical sectors in accordance with ISO9001 & AS9100 quality standards.

Good communication skills, self-motivated and able to communicate effectively
