Data Architect / Head of Data Management

Bristol/N. Wiltshire - Permanent - £80,000 - £100,000 dependant on experience + benefits package including car allowance, bonus, contributory pension scheme and more

We are searching for an experienced Data Architect to take on the challenge of setting up a data architecture, management and governance capability for a large, well-known company in the North Wiltshire area. Mostly a greenfield project, you will need to create a data culture alongside heading up the data management practice and aligning data strategy to the wider business and IT function.

Role Overview

Overall responsibility for establishing and leading a greenfield data management capability across the business, this role will cover data strategy, implementation/execution, architecture and data governance.

Key Responsibilities

Create a fluid, end-to-end vision for how data will flow through an organization

Develop and manage a data management strategy

Identify and evaluate current data management technologies

Define the strategic direction for data management across federated business units.

Oversee the development and deployment of a data and analytics platform.

Develop best practice methodologies across MDM, DQ, DG and Data Architecture.

Support data architecture of various projects.

Develop conceptual, logical and physical data models.

Design, construct and document database architectures and data management solutions, ensuring the designs are scalable, secure, performant and reliable.

Maintain a repository of all data architecture artefacts.

Create and maintain a data dictionary.

Produce and implement data management standards, championing them across the business.
Key Skills and Experience

Experience in a Head of Data Management/Senior Data Architect role

Knowledgeable of architecture modelling and management: Conceptual, Logical & Physical / frameworks (e.g. TOGAF).

Strong experience of data modelling techniques and approaches-canonical, conceptual, logical & physical

Previous experience of driving best practice across data architecture and data management.

Has built data teams or led/managed a data function.

Strong working knowledge of technologies and approaches to both integration and analytics, as well as the emerging domains of data science, machine learning, AI & cognitive.

Excellent communication and influencing skills.
