What is the role?

Our client is seeking to recruit a Senior Environmental Consultant to join its Asset Performance Services Business Line. This role will enhance the existing environmental consultancy team providing support to project delivery. The post will be based in Bath, with part of the time spent on site in Bristol, and some regular travel to other customer sites and our client's offices. The company's flexible working arrangements also offer the ability to work from home for part of the week and consideration will be given to part-time applications.

Our client is looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic individual, conversant with the application of environmental management practices in the defence industry, to help customers meet their obligations for Environmental Compliance and to improve the environmental performance of their assets. The post-holder will have the opportunity to apply multiple consultancy skills such as managing client relationships, project management, bid management, whilst enhancing delivering technical outputs to meet customer requirements.

The main responsibilities of the role will be as follows:

* To support the delivery of BMT's larger defence focused projects by applying environmental management practices.

* Manage the delivery of environmental projects to schedule and budget whilst meeting client and corporate expectations.

* To understand and apply the UK MOD's Project Orientated Environmental Management System (POEMS).

* To understand and apply the principles of ISO14001 environmental management systems. To understand environmental protection legal obligations and the associated compliance requirements.

* To author documentation to outline and capture environmental management activities conducted on behalf of their clients.

* To include managing the end to end authoring process from inception through to delivery such as editing, receiving and acting on feedback and learning from experience.

* To support senior colleagues with Business Development activities.

* To liaise with clients and the equipment/platform end-user at senior levels on Environmental Compliance and project issues.

Key Skills:


* Bachelor's degree or Master's degree (or equivalent), from a recognised institute or university, preferably in Environmental Management.

* Be a member of an appropriate professional body, such as IEMA, and be proactive in managing his/her own professional CPD.

* A willingness to undertake further development in line with the role requirements.


* Be self-motivated and have a logical and pragmatic approach to problem solving.

* Be flexible and have a genuine enthusiasm to contribute to the growth of a successful business.

* Be articulate with professional presentational and written communication skills.

* Be a confident individual able to lead a team or act independently with support from colleagues.

* Be willing to travel both in the UK and overseas.

* Eligible for UK security clearance.

* Effective communicator, with a strong ability and enthusiasm to present professionally through verbal and written communication.

* Good track record of accomplished goals and achievements.
