Our client is an award-winning, full service, commercial law firm and they are rapidly developing a national reputation for its innovative approach to delivering legal services. They operate in the financial services, leisure, retail & consumer goods, technology & media, renewables, housing and public sectors. Their specialisms are real estate, banking and finance, commercial, corporate, employment, dispute resolution and litigation.

The Job:

Due to progression internally our client is seeking a Team Manager. Within this role you will have responsibility for managing the caseload of a team and ensuring work is carried out effectively, efficiently and within relevant service standards.

Responsibilities will include:

* Meeting and seeking to exceed client expectations by actively managing work levels, quality and resources within the team.
* Routinely monitoring working methods to identify inefficiencies and areas of risk. Taking steps to implement appropriate improvements (considering relevance and impact on wider team).
* Holding regular team meetings ensuring that the team are kept informed of relevant developments and their team's progress and performance.
* Using various management tools and methods, managing work quality, policy compliance and service standards, including MI, league tables, audits.
* Ensuring supervision meetings and appraisals are conducted. Working with Team Coaches to actively manage and improve staff related issues, e.g. poor performance, sickness, absence levels.
* Developing talent within team by identifying individuals' potential and actively supporting them through delegation, coaching, mentoring and training.
* Meeting regularly with the Assistant Operations Manager, to discuss team performance.
* Attending and contributing to management meetings, including actively supporting resourcing requirements.
* Pro-actively building and maintaining strong working relationships with clients, through actively engaging with clients on a day to day basis, understanding clients' business objectives and working methods, responding to and, where possible, anticipating clients' requirements. Also actively contributing to conference calls, review meetings and social events.

The Person:

For this role they are seeking someone who has managed a team before (ideally within a legal environment)

In addition they are looking for the following skills & experience

- Good IT skills

- Strong attention to detail

- Good letter writing ability, including writing non-standard letters

- Ability to communicate clearly issues to the client

- An awareness of the commercial concerns of clients

- Experience of working within a volume caseload environment

- Confident managing multiple cases simultaneously

- Ability to work in a strict regulatory environment

- Ability to prioritise work effectively to meet deadlines and work to SLAs

- Ability to delegate confidently and effectively
