Contek are working with a well established precision engineering - machining, pressing and fabrication company in Bristol - who require an experienced Sheet metal worker to join the team.

Pay is £12-15p/h negotiable on experience with overtime at 1.5 after 4 hours.

Mon - Thurs - 7:15-4:00pm

Fri - 7:15-12:00pm

-Set and operate Amarda Press-brake (HFE100-3 and HF50/12)

-Set and operate manual pierce-all punch.

-General hand fitting, bench work and using jigs and fixtures.

-Blank dressing/clean up and bending.

-Inconnel/Stainless/Alloys - materials 0.5-3mm Thickness.

-Develop blank size and work to drawings.

-Manual punching/rolling/riveting (Desirable).

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the development & manufacture of make-to-print aerospace sheet metal parts from various materials including Inconel, St.Steel's & Al.alloys ranging in thickness from 0.5 mm up to 3 mm.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Read & interpret engineering drawings

working within a 3 man team or using own initiative

Set-up and operation of our Amada Press-brakes (HFE100-3 & HF50/12).

Set-up and operation of our manual Pierce-All punching machine

General hand fitting bench work, working with jigs & fixtures

Liaising with the Engineering Manager and the Production Planner to ensure work going through the department and is produced in a timely and efficient manner to meet both customer & company targets.

Ensuring machine downtime is kept to the absolute minimum.

THE PERSON

The ideal person will have;

1. Time served Sheet Metal Worker (City Guilds Level 2, ONC or NVQ Level 3) with Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role

2. Experience of setting and operating an Amada Press brake or similar bending machine tool.

3. A working knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing techniques, including product development for parts with fine tolerances +/- 0.25 mm average

4. Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings.

5. Ability to calculate developed blank sizes from assembly or detail part drawings.

6. Ability to check own work prior to independent inspection

7. Ability to re-set parts after heat-treatment etc
