On behalf of our client we are delighted to be assisting them with their need of a Communication and Engagement Officer on a 4-month fixed term contract.

The role is part of the wider Business Development Team whose function is to help the organisation to learn, develop and grow and communicating with and engaging with service users.

The role will be supporting the Head of Communications to drive forward their communications and engagement plans, promoting services, involving service users in shaping new developments

You will be responsible for communicating with staff and the public via the website and intranet, keeping it up-to-date, fresh and using it to engage with staff and communities as well as leading on on-going engagement with service users

Responsibilities will include:

* Work with teams and staff members to provide advice and guidance on engagement and implementation
* Ensure the views and experiences of people who use services have an input into and influence future service developments.
* Work with colleagues to involve service users in new developments.
* Provide support in the planning of, and attendance at, engagement events.
* Organise the running of service user interviews
* Manage surveys connected to new and existing services.
* Ensure that a diverse range of people, groups and communities are involved particularly from those less often heard populations and people whose circumstances make them vulnerable.
* Build and manage relationships with local organisations and community groups
* Ensure that our approach is inclusive and promotes equality and diversity and takes account of the views of users
* Develop communication and engagement plans for specific projects/campaigns and manage their effective implementation.
* Identify and produce stories promoting Sirona within the communities.
* Identify and advise on reputational risk as appropriate.
* Produce a wide range of written communications for different audiences, internal and external
* Work independently to manage own workload and prioritise daily.
* Offer a flexible approach as the needs of the organisation change.

For this role our client is seeking the following experience:

Essential :

* Similar experience again within the NHS, social care or independent sector
* Experience in communications and stakeholder management
* Experience of engaging with local communities
* Experience of organising different events / co-ordinating projects
* Experience of engaging with service users
* Excellent written and spoken communication skills
* Experience of working with the media.
* Flexible approach, comfortable with ambiguous and changing situations
* Able to provide, receive and manage highly complex, sensitive or contentious information
* Knowledge and understanding of the support and communications needs of a range of people who use health and social care services and barriers to participation

* Digital experience

A driving licence and car is essential for this post.

This role is based in Kingswood but there will be travel with this role, across the Bristol and surrounding regions.

Core office hours are Monday - Friday 8.00 am - 6.00 pm and flexibility within these hours will be required.

Salary is £25,000 and this is a 4 month contract.
