A large national automation product distributor is looking to expand its Technical Sales function by recruiting an Automation Sales Engineer. The role will see increase spend on various automation products through the development of new and existing business. The ideal candidate will have previous external sales experience and have come from an electronic background.

Commutable from: Bristol, Exeter, Taunton, Swindon

Salary: Up to £ 40,000 p.a. + Bonus (5k) + Company Car + Benefits

The Role

Effective territory planning to maximise customer contact.
Conduct sales calls in a professional manner, ensuring that customer's needs are fully and properly explored.
Undertake continual training to ensure awareness of new and updated products and solutions, and to keep customers informed of the latest technologies.
Support company's marketing activities by keeping accurate contacts records, making customers aware of events and also by attending seminars, product launches and other marketing events.
Present to various audiences on a range of subjects, including the value offer, product demonstrations, services and commercial overviews.
Represent the customer within company and take ownership and responsibility of customer issues to bring them to satisfactory conclusion.
Be accountable for continued personal development and contribute to overall performance in line with company's core competencies and learning and development framework
Work hard towards achieving the company's sales targets

The Person

A good standard of education is required to do the job well, particularly in Maths & English. Qualification to degree level in a relevant subject is ideal but qualification to ONC level or equivalent in electrical engineering would be a minimum requirement unless qualified by exceptional experience.
Some previous experience within a commercial, business to business sales environment is strongly preferred, ideally within a manufacturing context.
To effectively handle the requirements of this position, the candidate should have a good level of awareness of a control and automation offer, although full training will be given.
The job requires the ability to manage high value projects and to take tasks through to their natural conclusion. So persistence and commitment are essential.
A genuine interest in modern control technologies and the changing world of automation is important for long term success in this role.
