Our client is a well established and financially secure main contractor based in Gloucester but covering projects between Gloucester, Bridgewater, Newport and Swindon. The company has a high percentage of repeat business from loyal and busy clients, and a wide variety of new build and refurbishment projects across general contracting sectors including Public Sector, Commercial and Student Accommodation to name a few. The business is expanding and is able to offer career progression for ambitious, hard-working professionals. Typical project values are between £500k and £3Million, and within 30 miles

The role - Contracts Manager

As Contracts Manager you will be responsible for the ultimate delivery of between 2-4 projects at any one time including client interaction, and overseeing site based teams, from an office base with regular site visits. The role will be reporting to a Contracts/Operations Director. You will be able to work in a fast paced environment where attention to detail is of utmost importance and the quality of the build is of an exceptional standard, and willing to travel to projects (working around your own diary) projects generally are within 1 hour of central Bristol but may occasionally be further afield.

Key accountabilities:

* Achieve production targets and carry out programming and monitoring to ensure that deadlines are met
* Manage around 2-4 live projects at once with a total value of around £3Million.
* Read and understand specifications, drawings, preliminaries, preambles and contract documentation
* Produce H&S and O&M on completion of projects
* Requisition and management of materials/delivery
* Issue subcontractors with regular short term programmes to ensure planned progress is achieved
* Hold progress meetings
* Display on site an up to date copy of the construction programme indicating the progress to date
* Give full consideration to the tender allowances when establishing the site compound
* Liaise with the design team, clients, subcontractors and suppliers to and maintain good working relationships
* Attend monthly cost meetings and agree contribution forecast
* Ensure full compliance with all Health & Safety aspects
* Obtain risk assessments and method statements from contractors prior to work commencement
* Handle all customer care issues in a timely and professional manor
* Manage Project Managers performance

The candidate

The successful candidate will likely have:

* Significant experience as either a multi-project PM or Contracts Manager for a main contractor
* Track record of delivering a range of non-residential refurbishment and new build projects on time and to budget
* Experience delivering projects of at least £2Million in individual value
* Commutable to Bristol office based and willing to travel to projects
* HND/Degree qualifications beneficial, or trade qualified background
