IT Support Assistant & Technician | 1st Line Helpdesk

We are delighted to be recruiting an IT Support Assistant & Technician for our client who are based in North Somerset. Due to the location of their offices, it's essential you have your own transport. This role will be supporting predominantly Windows based PCs and Servers.

This is a superb opportunity for someone with a passion for customer service and IT, who has recently gained relevant IT qualifications, maybe you love 1st Line Helpdesk and you are looking for a fresh challenge within a small, but growing and successful business. Within this role your responsibilities will include being the first point of contact for incoming enquiries, from a variety of clients. You will also be responsible for assigning a ticketing system and prioritise calls. It's also essential that you are able to resolve issues and liaise with clients and escalate to senior support staff if necessary.

For this role our client is looking for someone who has the enthusiasm to learn and take on responsibility within a small, friendly and dedicated team. It's also essential you are professional and well presented as you will be supporting clients over the telephone but also on occasions visiting the client's premises to support all their IT requirements. In additional to this it's really important that you enjoy speaking with clients and want to resolve any IT issue or question you may have. This is a fantastic opportunity working for a small, but successful and busy IT consultancy in North Somerset.

Day to day your duties could include:

Mapping network drives

Connecting to printers on server

Outlook configuration

Firewall configuration

Setting up new users in AD

Creating mailboxes in exchange

Managing permissions

Disabling AD accounts

Resetting AD account passwords

Managing local admin rights

Virus removals

Setting up email accounts on phones/tablets

Installing, configuring and repairing Office

Setting up hosted exchange accounts

Migrating emails in Outlook (backup/restore)

Setting up VPN connections

Setting up RDP connections

WiFi/Wired connection troubleshooting

Installing printers directly

Installing printers on server and sharing them

Group policy management

Configuring basic network equipment (WAP, PLA etc.)

Reconnecting site to site VPN connections in USG

Setting up scanners (scan to server, PC, email...)

Creating shared calendars

Creating distribution groups

Creating email signatures

Installing/upgrading Windows

Windows backup/restore

Changing BIOS settings

Using safe mode

Installing RAM, network cards, graphics cards etc.

Installing/replacing hard drives

Changing power supply units

Installing monitors

Changing screen resolution

Changing IE settings (compatibility mode, trusted sites etc.)

Ahsay backup/restore

PC performance troubleshooting (Disk defrag, chkdsk, disk cleanup)

Starting/stopping/restarting services (Exchange services/print spooler are most common)

Using event viewer

Using device manager

Joining PC's to a domain

Fixing PC's that lose trust with domain

The successful candidate will have IT qualifications and proven ability in IT, supported by a passion to fix things/solve problems. Solid qualifications in English and Maths would be useful.
