This is an exciting opportunity to join the Strategic Delivery Team on a fixed term contract of initially six months. The main part of this role is drafting policy wordings and clauses, supporting our business plan to develop new products and deliver new schemes. A strong technical underwriting or claims background and attention to detail are key to this role along with ability to work at pace and to deadlines, independently and as part of a team. You will be expected to be DipCII qualified and progressing towards ACII.

Key accountabilities:
* Developing and maintaining underwriting guides, procedures and technical training material.
* Acting as a specialist referral point around procedures, policy wordings, reinsurance, underwriting guides and audit recommendations, supporting the business in ensuring that standards are met and technical expertise cascaded, meeting defined levels of service (SLAs).
* Drafting and reviewing policy wordings, summaries of cover, application forms and clauses ensuring they comply with legal, reinsurance and regulatory parameters.
* Reviewing and developing free-format clauses drafted within the business.
* Researching issues connected with policy wording development and escalating wordings issues to the wider business.
* Working in partnership with Niche, Directors, Property and Casualty Directors, Regional Underwriting Managers, Church and Corporate Business to enable underwriting of quality business within appetite and individual UW licence.
* Understanding and operating within regulatory framework and identifying and escalating any risks to the business.
* Undertaking Underwriting Development projects.
* Work as required across all aspects of the UW operations function, working outside own area of specialism when needed.

Knowledge, skills and experience:
* DipCII qualified and progressing to ACII
* Proven track record and detailed knowledge of general insurance principles through reinsurance, underwriting or claims experience
* Proven analysis skills and ability to submit balanced and well considered recommendations
* Experience of influencing stakeholders and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to work on projects either on own or as part of a cross functional team
