Following approval of our 12mppa planning application, Bristol Airport has an unprecedented period of change ahead with capital investment of £400m+. Our Engineering team is growing; and we’re looking for a Senior Asset Manager to join us on this exciting journey.

The Senior Asset Manager will develop and deliver an asset management structured approach within Bristol Airport and establish asset management best practices leading to ISO 55001 accreditation. They’ll ensure the asset management strategy is a key part of our portfolio planning and wider business planning process.

This role would suit an experienced Asset Manager, who has demonstrable experience in the implementation of ISO5501 within a safety regulated business who can be flexible in meeting the demands of working within a 24/7 operation.

Interviews will commence on the 21st of October 2024.

Principal responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an Asset Management delivery roadmap through from recommendations and undertake the Maturity Assessment charting the transformation to ISO55001 accreditation over a 24-month period.
  • Engage with business wide responsible managers to promote asset stewardship and responsibility within departmental areas work with managers to set clear and measurable KPI’s for the performance of assets to include case studies and business benefit analysis to underpin and demonstrate the value of the asset management.
  • Instil strategic asset management planning (AMP) processes into our investment plans ensuring alignment between our asset performance / lifecycle and business planning process
  • Act as the Asset Management ‘technical expert’ to coach and mentor departmental managers with the development and adoption of new techniques and processes. 
  • Develop a key asset performance monitoring system and carry out regular audits to monitor system performance across key systems. Evaluate and eliminate repeat failures, utilising captured data to revisit maintenance schedules, asset replacement strategies and drive continuous improvement. 
  • Working with our PMO team develop an asset management reporting and governance forum with quarterly updates presented to the airport executive.
  • Develop templates and provide guidance for development of a Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP), instigating whole life cost models, risk management and Asset Maturity Plans throughout the wider business. 
  • Benchmark asset performance and asset management processes with other airports and similar industries bringing a continuous improvement culture to asset management
  • Work with the engineering management team to ensure a holistic approach to maintenance, focussing on value whilst improving the internal and external customer experience
  • Assist with the selection, management and implementation of a new CMMS system to provide short term enhancements in asset performance data and evaluate longer term EMS systems for implementation across the business.  

Person specification

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience with the implementation of ISO5501 within a safety regulated business. 
  • Demonstrable constructive engagement experience in a range of disciplines, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. 
  • Suitable Asset Management qualification or experience with membership of the Institute of Asset Management at Member (MIAM) or Fellow (FIAM). 
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of ISO55001 standards. 
  • Demonstrable communication, influencing, negotiating and engagement skills. 
  • Substantial IT skills with a working knowledge of the range of MS Office packages and knowledge of Microsoft Project / Primavera P6
  • Tenacious, resilient and positive nature, with a pragmatic approach to problem solving. 

Desirable

  • Recognised Engineering / Project Management qualification ideally to degree level
  • Formal QMS Auditing qualification, i.e. Lloyds Register LRQA 
  • Experience of working in the transport sector
