The Cancer Clinical Advisory Groups (CAGs) consist of healthcare professionals from all disciplines who specialise in different cancer types and treatments and include patient representatives. The groups meet to discuss and promote good practice in cancer services across the Somerset, Wiltshire, Avon and Gloucestershire (SWAG) region. A service to support these groups and their activities was established in Summer 2014. The service is hosted by University Hospitals Bristol and Weston but is funded jointly by the six local hospitals and the Cancer Alliance and acts on behalf of the CAGs.
Main duties of the job
The Administrative Coordinator post is an interesting and exciting role, developed to enhance the service we can offer to these groups in their work to improve the quality and coordination of cancer care in the region. This provides an opportunity for the post holder to witness how highly skilled clinical staff work together to share their expertise while seeking solutions that benefit their patients.
Applicants for the post must be able to concentrate for prolonged periods during meetings whilst interpreting complex information, be motivated to produce high quality documentation and have excellent communication skills. Previous NHS experience of working with cancer and health data would be ideal. Applicants must have a good knowledge of cancer services and current issues within the NHS. We are looking for individuals who combine a high level of organisational skills with the ability to work with and understand complex data.
