Job Requirements/Description

As part of the People & Development (P&D) function, you will perform regulatory compliance activities for our Human Resources, Learning & Development and Talent Acquisition business units, thus enabling assurance to the management team that all 1st Line compliance activities within the department’s remit are handled and contribute to keeping SBG a sound and honest company in which people’s actions are based on integrity. This role is a Certified Function under SM&CR.

You will play a key role in supporting the Group’s vision, strategy and values by helping senior leaders and the P&D team to deliver a strong risk management framework based on personal accountability. You will be responsible for providing your business area with support and advice, enabling the business to grow whilst upholding the standards and requirements of our regulator, the Financial Conduct Authority.

You will be a visible and accessible compliance presence for the P&D team and key stakeholders whilst working closely with the 2nd Line Compliance team to maintain compliance with SBG policies, procedures and applicable legal & regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Building and managing effective and collaborative relationships with key business stakeholders.
  • Supporting with any regulatory change and enabling implementation work led by the business.
  • Supporting the 2nd Line Compliance team in fostering strong regulatory relationships including prompt, accurate regulatory reporting.
  • Taking on 1st Line ownership of Group SM&CR requirements: Management of SMF Framework, Management of process for Certified Persons, Managing FCA relationship and documentation in relation to SM&CR
  • Leading the P&D 6-weekly Functional Alignment meetings / agenda
  • Leading as compliance advisor for P&D but deployable for other compliance activities.
  • Tracking of current and new legal and regulatory requirements and being insight driven through effective horizon scanning.
  • Proactively supporting and guiding business change and operational initiatives to achieve compliance in a cost effective and business friendly manner.
  • Providing input for the development of policies and procedures with compliance requirements and cover regulatory requirements.
  • Identifying and escalating risks and control deficiencies to management including solutions to mitigate future issues.
  • Certified Person as part of SM&CR.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Demonstrate good knowledge of FCA regulatory requirements and key SM&CR and conduct-related priorities.
  • Ability to manage a varied workflow and to balance the demands of maintaining high quality work and delivering to deadlines.
  • Clear understanding of the concepts of risk, controls and materiality.
  • Keep sensitive business or departmental information secure and confidential, without exception.
  • Has a methodical, analytical, curious mind and tenacity, whilst keeping objectivity.
  • Possess drive and determination to develop within the role through increasing technical knowledge and building effective relationships with the business.
  • Good stakeholder management skills and the ability to develop trusted business relationships, including influencing peers.
  • Genuine passion for continuous improvement.
  • ICA or equivalent qualification is desirable.
