Energy Strategy team (within the wider Energy team) drives the development of the medium and long term commercial strategy for OVO’s Energy business. Ovo is part of an ambitious ESO funded project called Crowdflex to help accelerate commercialisation of domestic demand flexibility at scale. Enabling households to be more flexible with their energy usage will play a crucial role in the decarbonisation of the energy system, and a key enabler of everyone’s pathway to a zero carbon living.

We have a 14-month secondment opportunity starting in November 2024. You’ll be part of the Crowdflex delivery team responsible for supporting the project with flex model development, proposition business case analysis, consumption analysis and reporting. You will have an opportunity to work with a wide range of partners such as ZCL, Portfolio Analytics, Commercial Propositions, Energy modeling and Energy tech teams. OVO has a history of challenging the status quo, and we are bringing this entrepreneurial spirit to the decarbonisation challenge to find cheaper, simpler ways to put consumers at the heart of the energy transition. This is a really exciting, emerging area of the energy sector and OVO is at the leading edge of this revolution.

This role in a nutshell:

The overarching goal of this role is to be the analytical engine of the project. Since it’s a small team you may from time to time be requested to support other project work. This role will need to be agile to the changing activities required to deliver the overarching goal. Key activities can include;

• Modelling- Support flex model iteration and support flex payment model development
• Data analysis- Economic analysis of demand flexibility from the trial and support value assessment of new propositions and tariffs
• Reporting- Data analysis and manipulation to build trial reports

You’ll be a successful Crowdflex Innovation Analyst here at OVO if you have…

• A commercial and strategic attitude able to interpret technical requirements into business impacts. 
• An analytical approach with strong data manipulation skills and good to excellent Excel/Google sheets knowledge.
• Solid attention to detail 
• Strong and broad interpersonal skills, including the ability to synthesise and disseminate key messages from technical and non-technical literature to senior stakeholders
• Strong prioritisation skills with a flexible, “find a way” mentality
• Good commercial analytical and modelling skills 
• Have used BigQuery or SQL to build robust reporting and analysis.
• Have some experience with data visualisation tools (ideally Tableau).

Systems

• Google Cloud Platform - particularly BigQuery and/or SQL, Tableau, Github

Ideally you will have:

• Passion for setting the future agenda for the energy industry, and being on the leading edge of change with a proven track record for bringing people on the journey with you.
• 2+ years work experience in a commercial, analytical, or science based role.
• An agile mindset and ability to prioritise between different tasks 
• Are a self-starter, comfortable working both autonomously and with colleagues to deliver value in a small, high-functioning team.

We’ll pay you between £45,760 and £55,000, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!
