An exciting, part time (80%), opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, people focused person with a positive, professional attitude and a keen eye for detail to join the Trust’s Non NHS Patient Income Team. 

The position supports the Trust in the delivery of its Overseas Visitors and Private Patients work streams. This includes fulfilling obligations under the Overseas Visitor NHS Hospital Charging Regulations, legislation and Trust policies and procedures.

Main duties of the job

Overseas Visitors: Having access to various information sources the post holder will undertake remote investigations, and will be required to interview Overseas Visitors / and or their representatives, including face to face. Liaising with internal colleagues and external agencies the post holder will establish a patient’s liability for charging, doing so in a fair, non-discriminatory and consistent manner. The level of charging will be established and the post holder will ensure that the Trust finance department are advised of any monies due by the raising of income due advices. Where deposits or advance payments are made, the post holder will accurately record financial transactions in line with Trust policies. In conjunction with the above, the post holder will, not limited by the means listed above, establish an Overseas Visitors right to access treatment and advise clinicians accordingly.

Private Patients: The post holder will conduct the administration of the private patient process, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that the trust is safeguarded against the risk of non-compliance with legislation and policy, minimising the potential for reduced income. Through liaising with private medical insurers the post holder will ensure that authorisation and price agreement is obtained ahead of services being provided by the Trust. The post holder will be responsible for accurate recording of financial transactions in line with Trust policies.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Educated to A Level with 2 or more passes at grade C (or similar experience)
  • Customer service qualification
  • Qualified to NVQ level 4 (or similar experience)

Desirable criteria

  • NHS OSV Training ambassador

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria

  • Extensive knowledge of the Overseas Visitors Charging Regulations 2015
  • Experience of working in a small team
  • Experience of working with a range of stakeholders
  • Experience of data entry into a variety of electronic systems

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working in the private healthcare or insurance sectors
  • Awareness of Visa Regulations
  • Knowledge of PHIN reporting requirements
  • Experience of working within the NHS or similar large scale, complex organisation
  • Knowledge of the current NHS agenda and challenges

  • Together with the ability to proficiently use customary IT systems, including Microsoft packages such as Word Excel and Outlook, the knowledge & experience of data entry on to Patient Administration Systems or similar
