About the role
Are you passionate about renewable energy and risk management? Join NFU Mutual as The Lead Renewable Energy Surveyor, where you'll provide technical insight and thought leadership on all aspects of renewable energy risk management. In this brand-new role, you will create a robust framework and become the go-to expert for all technical considerations within our surveying team. You will guide and steer the development of capabilities and skills within both the Loss Control department and Underwriting, shaping NFU Mutual's risk appetite and ensuring we remain at the forefront of the renewable energy sector.
Your responsibilities will include conducting detailed surveys of complex renewable energy risks, providing expert guidance to underwriting and other stakeholders, and developing risk management strategies and standards. You will also head up and implement programmes to enhance the understanding and skills of Loss Control surveyors, Underwriting, and Agency colleagues in renewable energy. By providing underwriters with accurate, scenario-based estimates of potential losses, you will assist in making informed capacity deployment decisions. This role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the future of renewable energy risk management at NFU Mutual. You'll play a critical role in shaping our approach to renewable energy, ensuring our capabilities and services are world-class.
About you
You’ll possess an extensive and in-depth knowledge of a wide range of renewable technologies and associated legislative requirements, as well as the potential risks and hazards associated with them. You’ll have experience in providing detailed technical advice and guidance on renewable energy matters to a wide variety of stakeholders.
Your influence and negotiation skills will be key when communicating with a range of stakeholders at all levels within the business whilst quickly establishing strong relationships and managing your personal reputation. You’ll also;
Be able to evidence the ability to identify risk management decisions
An understanding of a wide range of machinery, not just in the renewable sector would be advantageous for this position although not essential.
