We are currently recruiting a Night Dispatcher at our Bristol HQ – Immediate start where possible.
The post holder will provide cover during hours of 19:00 07:00, on a 4 on 4 off basis.
You will be the first point of contact for Bristol Ambulance EMS, being able to professionally manage inbound calls, conference calls and queries.
The ideal candidate, with support from the Duty Operations manager and Senior Dispatcher, will be able to work in partnership with other NHS professionals and stakeholders who have an interest in the company and provide assistance with respect and courtesy, all whilst upholding the Bristol Ambulance company image and values.
Main duties of the job
- You will be able to provide a thorough understanding of the differing needs of different users, whether this be co-ordinating a conference call, taking a patient booking or engaging with staff throughout the night.
- Working independently, you will be able to effectively manage and triage situations that may occur.
- A good knowledge of IT systems (training provided), excellent phone manner, efficient reporting and being able to demonstrate your ability to work in a high-pressured environment is imperative to this role.
- You will be the crucial link between the day and night team; therefore, you must be able to report and hand over accurately each morning, having an awareness of the effect this has on the daily operation.
Job responsibilities
- The post holder will provide cover during hours of 19:00 07:00, on a 4 on 4 off basis.
- They will ensure all appropriate company policies and procedures are followed. They will report to the Duty Operations Manager, ensuring that they are kept informed of operational performance and issues as they occur.
- They will provide support to operational staff, ensuring that an effective method of two-way communication is maintained with these staff at all times.
- They will escalate out of hours issues appropriately to the on-call Senior Manager
- They will be able to report vehicle defects following the correct processes
- Allocate vehicles when required to support the smooth running of the next day operation
- They will report sickness as and when it occurs, following the company sickness reporting process
- They will undertake some administrative and data entry tasks throughout the shift to support other departments/stakeholders.
- They will provide clear handover to operational day dispatcher and control colleagues.
- Post holders will present themselves for duty in accordance with the Company dress code and in the uniform provided at all times whilst on duty. They will ensure that they are properly equipped at the start of each duty period.
