The Parenteral Services Unit (PSU) of the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC) are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 senior technician, who wishes to develop their technical expertise while working in our busy aseptic unit. The unit provides cytotoxic chemotherapy treatments and Parenteral Nutrition to the BHOC, St. Michael's Hospital and the Bristol Royal Children’s Hospital.
Candidates are required to have successfully completed either the Pharmacy or Science Manufacturing Technician qualification and be registered either with the GPhC or relevant scientific body as appropriate.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work within a team of Senior Technicians, each with dedicated responsibilities. This role encompasses distinct areas of responsibility as detailed below. The post holder will perform the chemotherapy and PN co-ordination duties according to rota, and is expected to manage their own time in respect of the rest of their duties.
Chemotherapy service: Co-ordination of the chemotherapy preparation service, acting as the lead, as well as the support on additional day(s) on a rota basis in conjunction with the other Chemotherapy Senior Pharmacy Technicians.
Parenteral Nutrition (PN) service: Co-ordination of the PN aseptic preparation service, on a rota basis in conjunction with the other PN Senior Pharmacy Technicians.
Stock Management: Stock control of the Chemotherapy and/or PN drug lines alongside the other Senior Pharmacy Technicians.
Staff Management: Management and supervisory responsibilities as detailed in the job description.
