In this role you will use your qualifications, skills and experience to carry out planned maintenance to help avoid issues and react to and rectify any faults across the campus.

You will work closely with maintenance technicians and help desk coordinators to schedule and prioritise jobs whilst also responding to any emergency situations on a day-to-day basis. As a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter you will use the University’s building management system (BMS) to monitor and record data from critical plant and equipment across the estate. You will also respond and attend to faults and alarms automatically generated by the system.

Building Services plays a key role in ensuring things work as they should for our staff and students. We aim to resolve any issues as quickly, safely and efficiently as possible ensuring customer satisfaction at all times. This role would suit an experienced mechanical fitter who is looking for a new, varied opportunity working with a friendly, supportive team.

What will you be doing?

The work is varied and can be unpredictable but examples of the day to day duties include:

  • Resolving local heating issues
  • Rectifying large and smaller heating system faults and failures
  • Investigating water leaks from sinks, roofs, pipes, basins, waste pipes, toilets, showers, or baths.
  • Investigating and repairing building drainage issues
  • Responding to ventilation faults and performance issues.
  • Fixing any hot and cold water generation and circulation issues.
  • Performing planned preventative maintenance tasks.
