An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Financial Accounting Manager to join our team. The role is a great opening to be a part of Aviva’s Investment, Wealth, and Retirement (‘IWR’) Financial Accounting Operations team which is integral in supporting the delivery of the IFRS and Solvency II (SII) results.
This role will require the successful candidate to apply professional judgement and expertise on accounting and reporting matters and look to implement further improvements in our accounting processes. The successful candidate will enjoy exercising their strong capabilities in both reporting, problem solving and operational process improvement.
A bit about the job:
This role sits within the IWR Finance Team, and the successful individual will have responsibility for managing the IWR Accounting process, and report into the UK IWR Head of Accounting Production and Balance Sheet Control.
The role will include a wide variety of activities:
- Quarterly reporting of the IFRS and SII results to the UK IWR Consolidation team.
- Ownership and delivery of timely and insightful outputs to internal and external stakeholders.
- High-quality reporting with supporting analysis to identify underlying drivers and offer business insight.
- Operation and enhancement of financial and operational controls with the aim of safeguarding both customer and shareholder interests.
- Continuous focus on process optimisation, simplification, and standardisation.
- Leading investigations within reporting and acting as a key SME resource on projects.
- Relationship management with key stakeholders across Finance and the IWR Business.
- A capacity to work at pace to tight deadlines in a demanding environment, with a positive attitude to change and an ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Experience in a financial reporting role within financial services or Life Assurance accounting would be advantageous, whilst sound knowledge of financial reporting processes/ architecture with knowledge of IFRS 17 and Solvency II would also be beneficial.
- Excellent analytical skills and pro-active drive to identify and investigate variances with strong Excel skills being essential. Experience of Qlik reporting would also be helpful.
- Strong people management skills, with experience of managing teams and developing individuals.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with other areas of the business.
- Qualified accountant with relevant post qualification experience.

- Salary Circa £75,000 (location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
