Senior Project Engineer

The role

As a Senior Project Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Using your developed engineering skills, you’ll contribute to extending the life of our Royal Navy’s Vanguard and Astute class submarines.  

Day-to-day, you’ll balance engineering and project management responsibilities. On the engineering side, you’ll define task requirements and plan the best route to completion, including managing aging assets and assessing maintenance or policy items for our submarines. You’ll work on varied projects aimed at extending asset life or exploring material changes. Using Microsoft Project, you’ll ensure schedules are accurate, on track, and aligned with costs. This role will challenge your problem-solving skills, and with support from your team, you’ll collaborate to find effective solutions. You will also:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Manage and own a variety of engineering tasks
• Support other team members with your expertise

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home. Flexibility with working hours can be discussed.

Essential experience of the Senior Project Engineer

• Experience managing engineering projects. Preferably with the exposure to the in-service section of the engineering lifecycle.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a record of addressing technical challenges. 
• Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive project success and support team objectives.

Qualifications for the Senior Project Engineer

A bachelor’s degree or HNC/HND in an engineering or technology discipline, or an equivalent qualification.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
