Job Requirements/Description

Why Bristol City Council?

At Bristol City Council, we go that extra mile for our people; we offer a work environment which is fast moving and supportive, giving you the chance to use your skills and develop new ones within a high-profile organisation. For the majority of our roles hybrid working arrangements are available, giving teams the opportunity to work in a way that suits them, balancing service need and individual choice - mixing both home and office working.

Join us and you’ll receive an excellent rewards package including flexible working and flexitime, membership of the Local Government Pension scheme, and a generous annual leave allowance. In addition, you’ll be working in a supportive environment where you’ll have the chance to make Bristol a better place and contribute to its future.

The South West Regional Investigation Team is a government funded team based in Bristol working across the South West region. Working in close partnership with Local Authority Trading Standards Services and partner enforcement agencies, the team specialises in taking action against those committing consumer fraud and supporting local Trading Standards enforcement activities.

This is your opportunity to join a highly skilled and motivated team of specialist investigators. Working across the region you will play a key role in the effective investigation of cross-border consumer fraud.

With a strong team ethic and a proven track record of conducting complex investigations, you will need to possess the necessary skills and experience to act and lead on investigations across Trading Standards responsibilities including the car trade, e crime and doorstep crime. This will often include working with the Police, HMRC, and other regulatory partners.

As a confident communicator you will be skilled in developing relationships with partner agencies, able to assimilate large volumes of information and drafting prosecution reports in coherent fashion.

A highly flexible approach to work is required as deployment throughout the region may be required as too is the need to work weekends and evenings when required.

Please note that this role is subject to Police Vetting Check (NPPV2).
