We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced paralegal to join our Real Estate department and support our sector teams in delivering residential Real Estate work.

This is a permanent, full-time role based in our Bristol office.

We have made a long-term investment in our real estate practice offering extensive expertise in residential development, regeneration, RE investment, RE funds, logistics, student accommodation, commercial development, telecommunication, utilities & energy and retail.

Residential developers rely on our strong expertise to see their developments through from concept to completion. We provide comprehensive advice across the entire project lifecycle and our team operate across areas from acquisition through affordable housing, build to rent / PRS sales, site set up, management structures and infrastructure agreements to name a few.

The residential development team work on a national basis across offices in Bristol, Reading and London on a comprehensive range of top developments and market leading transactional work. The practice is supplemented by strong real estate litigation, construction, planning, tax and plots / site set up departments all of which form part of a powerhouse residential development practice.

Our Clients

We act for numerous market leading residential development clients (both PLC and SME businesses) - often on a national, multi service line panel basis. Our list of clients is impressive and includes - Barratt, Vistry, Crest, Taylor Wimpey, St Modwen, Places for People, Sovereign, Bloor, U&I, GLP, DTZ, Patrizia, Mirastar, M&G, PGIM, British Land and Greystar to name a few.

The Team

The real estate is made up of 75 lawyers in total including 22 Partners in the UK. The Residential Development practice is a key part of the Real Estate team and has 8 Partners and a large team specialising in this area including our dedicated site set-up and plots administration and conveyancing teams.

The Role

You will provide a wide range of services to the Residential Development practice including but not exclusively dealing and supporting with:

  • Deeds of easements, wayleaves, infrastructure agreements (e.g. Section 38 and Section 104 agreements), substation transfers, transfers of land, deeds of covenant and various other matters for our house-builder clients including the drafting and negotiation of the same;
  • Affordable housing disposals (golden brick and turnkey);
  • Matters ancillary to large scale residential developments;
  • Asset management issues connected with large scale residential development schemes including leases, licences, transfers and deeds of variations;
  • Assisting with site set up matters connected with large scale residential developments.

Technical skills and experience

We are looking to appoint a paralegal with experience of infrastructure and associated agreements so that the successful candidate can supervise less experienced paralegals. It would be beneficial to also have experience in affordable housing disposals and the other matters that the role will entail but training will be provided on this. Due to the growth of the business, nature of the work and structure of the team we are looking to appoint a Senior Paralegal in this area, however we are willing to consider candidates with more or less experience.
