A bit about the role
This is a rare opportunity to be at the forefront of cloud data engineering and play a pivotal role in building and scaling our Databricks capability. You’ll lead client engagements, influence company growth, and guide the evolution of our service offerings.
This role blends leadership and technical proficiency. We’ll look to you to guide projects from conception to implementation, diving into clients' business challenges and delivering actionable solutions that resonate with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
What you’ll be doing
Commercial Leadership & Strategy
- You’ll define and lead the development of our internal Databricks capability
- You’ll stay ahead of market trends, ensuring our offerings and accelerators remain competitive and innovative
- You’ll collaborate with Databricks on a partnership level and help to find new opportunities for clients and projects.
Project Delivery & Client Engagement
- You’ll lead end-to-end client projects, focusing on outcomes that address their core business needs.
- You’ll communicate complex data concepts to non-technical audiences, demonstrating the business impact of solutions.
- You’ll build trusted relationships with clients through insightful recommendations and measurable results.
Data Engineering Excellence
- You’ll lead clients with the design and build of data platforms using Databricks following best practices and a consistent approach and methodology
- You’ll create robust data models (e.g. star schemas, data vault) to enable scalable analytics and reporting
- You’ll deliver efficient ETL/ELT processes tailored to our clients’ requirements.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
- You’ll inspire and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence
- You’ll conduct code reviews, share best practice, and support team development
- You’ll ensure that Snap Analytics are being positioned as Databricks champions by ensuring that the team produce blog content and speaking at events.
What we're looking for
We’re looking for someone who brings both technical depth and a broader business perspective. To excel in this role, you’ll need:
Technical Expertise:
- 10+ years in data engineering, including cloud-based architectures on AWS, Azure, or GCP
- A strong background in Databricks for building enterprise data warehouses with strong knowledge of SQL and Pyspark
- A deep understanding of data modelling and advanced pipeline development
- Knowledge and understanding of best practice CI/CD approaches utilising Git.
Strategic Vision:
- A track record of shaping and growing technical capabilities within an organisation
- An ability to identify market opportunities and propose innovative solutions.
Commercial Acumen:
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align technical solutions to business objectives
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Leadership & Mentorship:
- A proven ability to inspire and develop teams while driving high standards of delivery.
- A Databricks Data Engineer Professional certification is a strong advantage.

Salary - £80,000-£100,000 (DOE)
Location - Hybrid; aiming to be on-site 2-3 days per week in our Bristol HQ
