We’re looking for a passionate Finance Assistant to join National Grid Electricity Distributions Operations Team working in the FBP team supporting Field Operations in NGED. This provides a fantastic opportunity for finance to help shape and influence the delivery of ED2 objectives across Operations.

This role can be based out of our Bristol or Weston-Super-Mare office, and we’d hope to see you at least two days per week but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you.

What You'll Do

  • To review and monitor project cost allocations and capital project coding.
  • Support project controllers to ensure capital and recharge project administration is completed on a timely basis.
  • Provide accurate and timely financial management information to the relevant Field Operations areas.
  • Monitor performance, financial risks and the implementation & maintenance of controls.
  • Support the implementation of continuous improvement activities, consistently achieving strong results.
  • Play an active role in developing and maintaining a cohesive team across Finance and the Business Functions, including contribution to the successful implementation of Finance strategic priorities, to create & embed a high performing community.
  • Support presentation of the monthly results in a style suitable for both a finance and non-finance audience, delivering insight and highlighting priority areas for focus, ensuring efficiencies are optimised for the longer term.
  • Provide action plans to address issues and ensure corrective actions are delivered on a timely basis.

What You'll Have

  • Ideally a part qualified accountant, but not essential.
  • Experience working within a financial control environment across Business and financial controls and frameworks (COSO).
  • Good understanding of core financial processes.
  • Understanding of the importance of accurate cost allocation for regulatory and statutory reporting
  • Good Spreadsheet skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Under direction is able to manage stakeholder and community relationships effectively through actively listening and responding to stakeholder requirements.
  • Will seek commercial guidance and input from others when working on complex matters.
