We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our leadership team as the Head of RIIO – ED3. This role is vital in driving the transition to Net Zero and meeting the Government's 2030 targets for the electricity industry.
As the Head of RIIO - ED3, you will play a pivotal role in developing new transformational regulatory frameworks for the next price control period and ensuring the successful delivery of our business plan. You’ll bring insightful and strategic thought leadership to the business, skills to influence externally with key stakeholders and the ability to turn regulatory strategy into delivery within the business.
You’ll provide a key interface between Ofgem, other external stakeholders and the Electricity Distribution business to develop regulatory price control arrangements and regulatory submissions that work for the business and for consumers going forward.
As a competent leader, you’ll develop your own team, leading both direct reports and cross functional teams established across the broader business to deliver a successful outcome.
This role can be based in Bristol, Castle Donnington, Warwick, or The Strand. Travel to London will be necessary due to the role's requirements.

What you'll be responsible for
- Accountable for delivering regulatory arrangements that appropriately fund the costs and output requirements of the Electricity Distribution business in RIIO-ED3.
- Providing regulatory thought leadership for the Electricity Distribution Business, developing new regulatory arrangements, shaping options and arguments to ensure price control arrangements deliver for both investors and for consumers.
- Lead on the Electricity Distribution regulatory interface with Ofgem and other key external stakeholders for RIIO-ED3, engaging and influencing to deliver successful regulatory outcomes.
- Responsible for the overall coordination and preparation of RIIO-ED3 business plans.
- Deliver compelling, well justified, and advocated regulatory submissions into price control processes which are aligned with customer and stakeholder needs.
- Work closely with all the ED directorates and the rest of ED Regulation to ensure we obtain the right regulatory framework to deliver the key customer outcomes for the next price control.
- Work closely with all other areas of the NGED business (e.g., IT, finance, SEA, legal) to ensure the price control is aligned with how we want to run the business to deliver for consumers.
About you
- A broad knowledge / awareness of the Electricity Distribution commercial value drivers and regulatory environment
- Awareness of the technical challenges associated with operating and maintaining the UK Electricity Distribution Networks and how these relate to commercial and regulatory issues.
- An ability to strategically develop regulatory options and understand their implications for our UK Distribution businesses
- Ability to influence executive leaders and external senior stakeholders, gain credibility quickly, inspire trust and confidence in delivery and counsel.
- A collaborative person able to quickly build effective partnerships with others around the business and a strong team culture within a matrixed organization.
- Strong strategic thinking combined with excellence in tactical implementation
- Highly motivated and organised with a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong programme management skills – given the multi dimensional aspects to the next price control

What we can offer you
A competitive salary of between £95,000 - £120,000 per annum dependent on experience.
