Lead Stress Engineer
Location: Bristol
Salary: Up to GBP40,000 Dependant on Experience
Our Client provides world-class expertise and experience across all sectors of the Avionics business. They currently have a unique requirement for a Lead Stress Engineer to work on an exciting range of projects.
This role is for a Lead Stress Engineer, preferably with composite and metallic experience, to perform the following tasks:
- Provide technical leadership for a team performing detailed stress analysis of design solutions derived from Weight Plateau trade studies and weight opportunities.
- Liaise with other functions and projects to ensure stress requirements are fully integrated.
- Liaise with Risk Sharing Partners, where required.
- Assist in the structural design process to help ensure an optimised design for weight, cost and quality.
- Report critical technical issues up through functional management. - Support on-going continuous improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through methods, process and other capability improvements.

Experience and Qualifications
As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate the following skills:
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment as an aircraft stress engineer involved in the analysis of composite and metallic structures using a broad range of standard hand and computer methods.
- The ability to rapidly and confidently assess structural problems under pressure and to provide the appropriate direction and guidance to team members.
- Proven background of technical leadership, with demonstrated knowledge of Static, Fatigue and Damage Tolerance of both composite and metallic structures
- A good understanding of aircraft composites production methods and processes.
- The ability to ensure that solutions are technically integrated across the whole project.
- Demonstrate a high regard for both internal and external customers, whilst maintaining Aircraft integrity as the over-riding principle.
- Aeronautical Engineering degree or equivalent.
- A good knowledge of Nastran/Patran FEM techniques for metallic and composite structure.
