Design Engineer - Packaging Machinery
Bristol. Permanent. Salary £High negotiable. Our Client is a successful manufacturer of packaging machinery. Extensive recent packaging machinery design experience using CAD is essential. The job is to produce general arrangements, detail drawings and material schedules which are clear, accurate, cost effective, meet the requirements of the specification and which can be constructed and commissioned safely and effectively. 

Produce technical information, drawings and associated schedules and documents, taking due account of H & S requirements, designs, specifications and standards relating to the contract. Testing and commissioning of mechanical and electrical systems. Deal with specifiers, suppliers and distributors. Report problems and deficiencies in the design and brief. Maintain competitiveness by ensuring drawings are produced within the durations indicated. Ensure technical coordination with all other internal and external disciplines. 

Ensure projects are delivered to timescale and budget. Maintain drawing files and records throughout the duration of the contract. Suggest solutions to problems based on an understanding of relevant technologies. Visit customers worldwide to help achieve sales, resolve problems and test machines. Maintain product costing data. Ensure statutory and company procedures and practices are maintained. Performance is measured via a management by metrics system. Key Performance Indicators will be reviewed and agreed on an annual basis. You will be self-motivated and customer focused. Possess Project Management and good oral and written communication skills. 

Attention to detail. Computer literate. Flexible. Proactive. Driving licence. Experience in an engineering-related position in a manufacturing and assembly environment. Proven experience of using CAD. Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques. Educated to BSc level or equivalent, or proven capability in a relevant discipline. Knowledge and experience of CE technical files and UK/EU standards. Candidates should be able to cope with new product innovations have a willingness to gain or retrain for additional or preferred qualifications.
