Technical Support Engineer
Bristol, England with frequent worldwide travel.

You must live within 50 miles of Bristol or be willing to relocate, be eligible to work in the UK and speak and write English fluently.
Our Client is a leading International packaging machinery producer, with a reputation for bespoke innovative packaging solutions. An Engineering Apprenticeship is essential or possession of equivalent Electrical or ElectroMechanical engineering qualifications is desirable. Strong experience working with packaging or similar machinery or computer based electromechanical control equipment. Understanding and troubleshooting machine related PLC programmes.
Ability to understand electrical and mechanical drawings, to use own initiative and work under pressure. Willing to travel overseas at short notice for periods of up to 6 weeks. You will be expected to work extended hours when project requirements demand it. This role covers a basic 37.5-hour week, which includes weekends. Approximately 60% travelling and 40% Bristol site based. Installation and service tasks involving mechanical, electrical and electronics.
Installation and Commissioning of machines. Supervising unloading of the packaging equipment at customer plant, locating the equipment and connecting air and power services. Running equipment in a production environment to an agreed specification level, within pre-defined timescales. Training customer and distributor personnel in operation and routine maintenance of the equipment. Routine maintenance. Assessment of maintenance needs and parts required to bring the machine up to a satisfactory performance level. Working to tight timescales to minimise downtime.
Advising customers of future maintenance programmes and operator training. Short notice callouts to establish problem and rectify fault. Liaison with Design Engineers should modifications be required. Advising customer of diagnosis and action required. All visits require a detailed visit report to be completed, outlining work undertaken and any outstanding actions. Field diagnostics and rectification of electrical programming issues.
Ongoing product training. Using own initiative and engineering skills. Benefits include 25 days holiday in addition to public holidays, company sick pay, company pension scheme, subsidised canteen, Overtime paid time and a half weekdays and Saturdays. Double time Sundays.
