Supporting the Group Finance Director you will ensure provision of actuarial support to the business (particularly focussing on the “in-force” portfolio) through leadership of the Actuarial Services team, ensure provision of tax expertise (particularly CT, VAT and employee taxes) to support the business through leadership of the Corporate Tax team and work as part of the senior management team to lead, direct and motivate staff across the whole Finance department
In the area of “Reporting and Forecasting” you will be responsible for ensuring provision of actuarial numbers (reserves, VIF and ICA, together with supporting analysis) to support corporate and regulatory reporting, in line with the relevant prudential sourcebook guidance, accounting regulations and statutory requirements, including TCF. Ensure that appropriate processes and controls exist to confirm the accuracy and validity of the reported numbers and the annual actuarial valuation and be responsible for guiding corporate planning through management of the group forecasting process.
Lead high level capital risk management for the Group (facilitated through scenario testing using the forecasting models) and be responsible for management of key insurance risks for the Group including mortality, morbidity, reassurance, persistency and investment mismatch as well as support management of expense and credit risks
You will ensure that in-force policies deliver in line with policy terms and conditions and the delivery of the business is managed correctly and efficiently and hold responsibility for providing in-force business expert query support (particularly to Partners, the Admin centres, Business Development product teams and Client Liaison) and authorising in-force concessions and redress payments where appropriate.
You will also have responsibility for valuation basis and methodology for BSPs, for reassurance operation, including premium calculation and review, and relationship management and liaison with Business Development on matters associated with new product development and pricing.
From a Tax perspective you will be responsible for ensuring provision of tax numbers and analysis to support corporate and regulatory reporting. Ensure appropriate processes and controls exist to confirm the accuracy and validity of the reported tax numbers and the annual submission and responsible for optimising the Group tax position, whilst ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements and maintaining the positive relationship
